63 Delis: Chalkboards for the Acater, Italian restaurant in Woolwich

Chalkboards for a neighbourhood restaurant on a historic site in a town centre, London

Nitty Gritty: 2 chalkboards approximately 3 m x 0.8m and 1 chalkboard approximately 1m x 1.2 m.

Delis 63 opened the Acater in Royal Arsenal Riverside Woolwich, with the aim to create a culinary haven in this historical site where people can savour artisanal delights and traditional Mediterranean dishes, all crafted with love and flair.

Working in collaboration with Maria Zvaric Illustration, I decorated the chalkboards and hand lettered the menu and information about the venue. The best part was sampling foods from the menu which we can confirm are delicious and certainly to be savoured!

The brief:

  • Hand-letter the menu in script lettering with accompanying illustrations on a board behind the counter.

  • Hand-letter a dictionary definition of Acater in serif lettering and an introduction to the restaurant opposite the entrance door.

  • Hand-letter a statement of the restaurant’s philosophy on wine with an illustration of the Italian countryside and a bunch of grapes.

The Result:

Three sophisticated and stylish chalkboards to put the finishing touch to this warm and welcoming restaurant.

Client Review:

We recently had the pleasure of working with Ellen and her colleague from Pigeon Loft Murals, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. They brought our vision to life with their stunning blackboard art, creating pleasant designs for our wine cellar and menu at our osteria. Their attention to detail, creativity, and professionalism were evident in every aspect of their work. The final product exceeded our expectations and has added a unique and welcoming touch to our space. It is without hesitation that we would recommend Pigeon Loft (Murals) to anyone looking to add that special artistic flair to their space. Thank you, Ellen for your excellent work!
